Thomas R. Storrer concentrates his practice in environmental and complex litigation in the insurance coverage practice group. Since joining the firm, Mr. Storrer has represented clients in a variety of matters, including coverage of large, long-tail environmental claims, coverage of reinsurance indemnity claims, environmental enforcement, cost recovery and contribution actions, and natural resource damages actions, as well as Pennsylvania Act 2 compliance, New Jersey Spill Compensation and Control Act compliance, and New Jersey Industrial Site Recovery Act compliance.
EXTENDED PROFILE
Prior to enrolling in law school, Mr. Storrer served as a Solid Waste Specialist and as a Compliance Specialist for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (PADEP) Solid Waste Program in the Southeast Regional Office. As a Solid Waste Specialist, Mr. Storrer conducted compliance inspections at municipal, residual, and hazardous waste operations, conducted complaint investigations for potential violations of environmental laws, and oversaw spill response activities performed by responsible parties. As a Compliance Specialist, Mr. Storrer led investigations of violations of Pennsylvania’s Solid Waste Management Act (SWMA), oversaw compliance with administrative and court orders, and assisted local, state, and federal authorities in criminal investigations of SWMA violations.
Before working for PADEP, Mr. Storrer worked for an underground storage tank and remediation contractor conducting underground storage tank removals, preparing bid proposals, and providing contract oversight for state and federal projects.
After graduating law school, Mr. Storrer worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Alamogordo, New Mexico and in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. While in New Mexico, Mr. Storrer investigated and prosecuted violent crimes, fraud, game and wildlife crimes, and animal abuse crimes. As an Assistant District Attorney in Lancaster, Mr. Storrer prepared responses to Post Conviction Relief Act petitions and assisted in the investigation and presentation of a cold homicide case to an investigating grand jury, in addition to his assigned cases.
Currently, Mr. Storrer is a member of the Delaware Valley Environmental American Inn of Court, the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, and the Pennsylvania State Bar Lawyer Assistance Committee. While in New Mexico, he served as vice-president and acting president of the Twelfth Judicial District Bar Association, served on the New Mexico State Bar Lawyer Assistance Committee, taught at the Alamogordo branch campus of the New Mexico State University, and volunteered with the Alamogordo Teen Court.
